Education and Outreach: CSI and GaLS
CSI - Challenging Science Investigations
The Challenging Science Investigations program is designed to encourage middle school girls to choose challenging science and math courses in high school and to feel confident considering science and math oriented careers. The program provides girls with an opportunity to work in teams as they design and construct a roller coaster, analyze a crime scene, and design/construct/test a Rube Goldberg machine. Participants have an opportunity to meet professional women in the sciences and learn about their fascinating and fulfilling careers.
CSI Summer Session
CSI – Challenging Science Investigations – will hold its summer program for middle school girls July 23 - July 26, at the Mount Nittany Middle School. Each day, the session will be held 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. We expect a full house of 45 girls.
The showcase will be held Thursday, July 26, at 7 p.m., in the cafeteria of Mt. Nittany Middle School. Day 2, the Chemistry Day, will feature a session on an oil spill and clean-up.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!! Contact Mary Dupuis mjmdupuis@aol.com.
Because we anticipate 45 participants, we seek two AAUW volunteers for each day.
