Legacy Award from Borough Council
Our State College AAUW Branch is proud to be named the recipient
of the 2008 State College Borough Council Legacy Award. Branch Co-Presidents Jeanne Weber (left)
and Talat Azhar (right) accepted the award from Teresa Lafer, AAUW Branch Member and State College
Bourough Council Member.
The legacy Award has been in existence since 1991, and is given each year to an outstanding group and/or individual who has left a legacy through it's outstanding contributions to the quality of community life. The scholarship money we raise for returning women students , our Challenging Science Investigations program for middle school girls, and our Mentoring Program with the Community Diversity Group were cited as a few examples of how our branch made a difference in the community.
Festival of the Trees
Our branch participated
in this year’s Festival of Trees at Snider Ag Arena, unveiling a new
set of ornaments with messages conveying information about our mission and our programs. Joanne
Bennett, left, and Chriss Schultz, right, decorated the tree.
